I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....Am now translating that love to my own contemporary creations and using all the fine extraordinary antique and vintage materials, laces, trims, beads etc that I've collected for more than 30 years in these wonderful wearable pieces....along with the finest of hand sewing and one of a kind details. Everything I create is individually hand made solely by me and has the very best of my carefully hoarded private stash of superb old accents (I use ONLY vintage materials that are in pristine, freshly-cleaned condition---no deteriorating, too-aged or rotting pieces EVER) plus the finest of modern silks, cottons and wools that I can find.....resulting in a fabulous truly authentic vintage look piece. Impeccable professional workmanship and design are the hallmarks here!
This exquisite little creation is hand sewn of six different coordinating Victorian style pink, red, ivory and green cotton prints and has tons of details and features! The topmost section features an appliqued Victorian print of a pink cherub which is surrounded by antique pink silk trim and tiny glass beads; the first section below this has a separate pincushion (stuffed with walnut shells and lavender) that is tied on to the hussif with silk ribbons, plus another lovely tiny print of a Victorian lady framed by silk rococo trim and a dainty little heart shaped jeweled pendant with pink and ruby stones. The middle section consists of three pockets in several different prints, edged with antique laces, as well as an needle-and-pin case hidden with an applique flap (see photos) The bottom section has a darling little applied scissor case which is decorated with another tiny Victorian lady print edged in antique lace, containing a pair of antique-style scissors held securely by more silk ribbon ties. To the right of this is a sweet decoupage ornament featuring a pink rose, edged with AB crystal rhinestones, sewn onto the patchwork background. More antique lace and silk rococo trim decorates and edges the various sections. The entire case is edged with hand sewn pink and green print binding and antique lace, and the back, which has a continuous print of gorgeous pink lilacs, folds up and fastens with silk ribbon ties as well as an antique celluloid carved-flower buckle. Above this, is yet another appliqued print of a Victorian lady in a pink flowered gown, surrounded by antique lace and trim plus tiny pink handmade ribbonwork flowers---the whole thing is just utterly charming! Looks fantastic on the wall as well--please be sure to view all the photos so you can see all the details. Most of this has been carefully sewn by hand; I used the machine only for the basic seams.
Included are: six frosted pink flat bobbins to wind with your own thread or ribbon (these fit in the middle pockets), six pink-glass-headed pins and three needles in the hidden needle case, a coordinating pincushion, and a pair of antique-style Victorian embroidery scissors which fit beautifully in the scissor sheath.
Size is 6 3/4" by 19 1/2" unrolled at full length; about 5 1/2" by 6 3/4" rolled up.
