SOLD An exquisitely delicious vintage 1990s April Cornell dress with a wonderful feeling of the 1930's, this beauty is just scrumptious with its delicate pink and white print on sheer, flowing rayon chiffon. This is the high quality, beautiful rayon that April originally used in her dresses back in the day and which you don't find in her current collections anymore.....this dress is sheer so you will need a slip to wear under it (not included). Beautifully made with lovely details such as inner straps/snaps to hold a slip in place, sweet chiffon ruffling around the neckline and sleeves, satin ribbon trim and a sparkly little sewn ornamentation of AB glass rhinestones at the front. Such a delicate, floaty dress with puffed sleeves and a long full bias cut skirt-very vintage 30's! In excellent, like-new condition. This would be a PERFECT summer wedding, tea or garden party gown or to wear to an event like the Gatsby Summer Afternoon!
IMPORTANT: PLEASE, please be sure to read ALL of the description especially the measurements and condition, and examine ALL the photos, BEFORE asking questions; and do be absolutely positive this piece will fit your requirements, as there are no refunds or returns. I'm a degreed and experienced textile scientist/antique garment restorer and seamstress, and I very, very carefully note any and all condition issues or repairs to every piece of antique/vintage clothing that I'm selling, so I can't stress enough that even if they're in pristine condition, remember they are all decades old and NOT new clothing, so if you desire modern perfection please don't purchase vintage! I don't do layaways or take offers, so please don't ask, thank you. Jewelry/accessories/props in photos are not included and not for sale.
I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties! I'm meticulous about clothing in general so I make quite sure that every piece of vintage clothing I sell is clean, fresh, pressed and in excellent wearable condition---I do not use any fragranced or heavily-chemical products in caring for/cleaning garments and they are carefully stored in climate-controlled closets at all times except for when I am photographing them for listings.
Size tag is missing so please go by the measurements below; this seems like a medium size to me. Vintage April Cornell dresses are often generously sized and this being a bias-cut garment, it's a little more accommodating than some.
Bust max: fits up to about 38", no larger than that
Raised Empire waist measures about 35"-36"
Length is 50" from shoulder to hem while on the hanger; this measurement will be shorter on a human figure; the dress fits and drapes SO beautifully on the body as you can see. Mannequin is a modern size 6/8 (36-26-36); it fits the mannequin as shown with room to spare, in fact I would say the mannequin is a bit too thin for the dress--this dress needs a little bit more of a curvy figure.
Condition: I can find no flaws on this dress. Very clean, no spots, stains, rips, holes or damages, Just gorgeous! Designer's own April Cornell tag, size tag is not present. Shown over a slip (not included)
Please make sure this will suit you as to measurements and style before you purchase; I don't do alterations or accept returns.....Also, please be sure to read my shop policies/shipping info in full before you purchase (click on "policies" on my main shop page).
Do check my other listings for more gorgeous vintage and antique clothing including many more silk 70's and 80's designer pieces coming up very soon, as well as my own very popular antique-style hats, accessories & vintage/antique china and decor items.....I try to list new items at least weekly....Thanks for visiting!
