SOLD OUT A fantastic dress that looks SO 1920's---another wonderful 100% silk super-floaty chiffon, flowing many-layered rich-bohemian dress by the one and only Nancy Johnson, whose gorgeous vintage-inspired designs graced the pages of famed Victoria magazine in the 1980s (Victoria magazine, August 1988, pgs. 76-87)---her beautiful fabrics and very vintage style designs are strongly reminiscent of 1920's and 1930's style. This one is so gorgeously feminine with its exquisite print of various shades of pink, navy blue, dove gray, ivory and tan. The print itself is extremely 1920's/Art Deco looking, in fact it looks very much like that of actual 1920's era dresses I have had in my collection--all of the fabrics Nancy used in her creations have such a wonderful vintage look. Very full, floaty bias-cut silk chiffon double skirt that has a lined bodice, double layered sleeves, and a long self-fabric, attached sash to tie over the hips (my mannequin doesn't have much in the way of real hips, sorry)....Surplice style crossover front with hook and eye. This would be so perfect with a 20's cloche hat and a long flapper necklace! See all photos for all the views of this beautiful vintage dress. Timeless beauty and style that transcends decades---a perfect dance, vintage tea, wedding or garden party dress.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE, please be sure to read ALL of the description especially the measurements and condition, and examine ALL the photos, BEFORE asking questions; and do be absolutely positive this piece will fit your requirements, as there are no refunds or returns. I'm a degreed and experienced textile scientist/antique garment restorer and seamstress, and I very, very carefully note any and all condition issues or repairs to every piece of antique/vintage clothing that I'm selling, so I can't stress enough that even if they're in pristine condition, remember they are all decades old and NOT new clothing, so if you desire modern perfection please don't purchase vintage! I don't do layaways or take offers, so please don't ask, thank you. Jewelry/accessories/props in photos are not included and not for sale.
I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties!
Measurements of this wonderful dress are as follows:
Bust max: up to about 40". The bodice is very loosely fitting and accommodating.
Hip: free, flared bias cut double skirt is very full
Skirt length from slightly dropped waist is approx. 30", keep in mind this may fall shorter on longer depending on the size of one's hips
Length is 50" from shoulder to hem; this fits and drapes SO beautifully on the body for a multitude of sizes, as you can see. Mannequin is approx. 5' 6" and a modern size 8 and it fits very well on that size. I believe this could fit from a modern size 6 up to a 10 (but check measurements to be sure!), definitely no larger than that.
Condition: Excellent, no stains, spots or rips/holes, clean, no staining or underarm discoloration, I cannot find any issues. Beautiful and so 1920s! Labels intact, "Nancy Johnson", 100% silk and a vintage size 12 tag.
Please make sure this will suit you as to measurements and style before you purchase; I don't do alterations or accept returns.....Also, please be sure to read my shop policies/shipping info in full before you purchase (click on "policies" on my main shop page).
